6, 2004 | By Declan Gould, DSJ Staff Reporter This fall students all over campus will be bemoaning the high price of textbooks for their classes. But in Sierra Leone in Western Africa where books are scarce, high prices are the least of students’ worries. In order to help increase the availability of books in Sierra Leone, which is recovering from a ten-year civil war that ended two years ago, the African Culture Society (ACS), in partnership with the Alumni for a Responsible College (ARC), and the Leonean Campaign for Good Governance (LCGG), is collecting textbook donations from College students during finals. All books are welcome, and they will be sent to the libraries and colleges of Sierra Leone. Class sets are especially helpful, and professors are encouraged to announce the drive to their classes when they meet for the last time.

Lubbers told a news conference Wednesday that the non Liberians former combatants could be from Guinea, Sierra Leone.
