Trafficking in persons, particularly women and children is a global problem affecting many countries on the Africa continent. There is a demand worldwide for trafficked persons to be used as cheap labour and for sexual exploitation. In Sierra Leone, children and their families are often unaware of the dangers of trafficking, believing that better employment and conditions of life are available in other countries.
