April 29, 2005) The Sierra Leone Diamond Company, a diamond exploration company with license interests wholly focused in Sierra Leone, has posted a net loss of $3. 1 million for the year ending December 31, 2004, after charging $1. 5 million for shares issued for past services. This compares with a net loss of $0. 3 million for 2003.

The Act is best known for a measure that would prevent states from giving drivers licenses to undocumented immigrants. But, it ALSO includes changes to procedures for seeking political asylum. WNYC’s Marianne McCune has been following an applicant from Sierra Leone through the sometimes agonizing process of gathering and presenting the necessary evidence. REPORTER: Bashirâs life in New York City is a kind of purgatory â between the bloody civil war he escaped in Sierra Leone and the solace he hopes to find in the United States.
