Speaking during the visit of the Iranian Cultural Consulate on October 24 Mr. Mohamed Reza Gezel Sofla, he said it was imperative to provide both education and instilling faith into the children at the same time. The College has reopened but students have shockingly discovered that fees have been redoubled after the last academic year's increase. GA_googleFillSlot(“AllAfrica_Story_Inset”); The increase has invoked outrage from the students who have vowed 'to fight tooth and nail to have it reduced". Fighting Sierra Leone’s Poverty in the wrong places
Awareness Times – Oct 29, 2007
The programme which is organized by the UNDP and the Sierra Leone Government will offer a chance for the poor to voice their concerns and to recognize them as the first people to fight against poverty and raise public awareness in the eradication of poverty and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal. UNDPs Comedy ShowIn the eyes of the community of practicing economists, this is an intellectual joke, a comedy show if you will, hosted by the UNDP. Indeed economic growth has a strong anchor in political stability and a macroeconomic correlation to the eradication of poverty. The UNDP would do well to take a microscopic look at the illiteracy rate of the estimated 52% of the population between ages 15 to 64 and the academic propects of the 43% of the next generation between 0 to 14. I see tremenduous human capital disengaged from formally contributing to the productivity of the economy. I also peg my pessimism on a projected period of prolonged war on the eradication of poverty.
