The Commission has also made submission to the Constitutional Review Commission on their preliminary report, organized a nation wide logo competition, issued press releases on burning human rights issues facilitated and participated in a number of international and national workshops and conferences, received and handled complaints and visited prisons. We have also met with the Chief Justice, the leadership of the Police, the Prisons Service -and the Army with the object of developing strategies for collaborative partnership in the promotion and protection of human rights. In accordance with the recommendations of the TRC the HRCSL has taken custody of the National Vision and commenced the process of the handing over of the TRC archives. Challenges and constraints As a new institution, the HRCSL requires substantial resources to be fully operational i. establishing offices and structures, recruiting staff, meeting its day to day expenses, acquiring vehicles, equipment and other logistics. The resources needed have not been forthcoming from government.
