Cocaine trafficking was going on in Sierra Leone before the APC …
Cocorioko, Sierra Leone
Watch them always amplify the problems of this era while painstakingly seeking to bury everything about the past under the carpet. In their desperation to tarnish the name of this government in a vainglorious belief that it will bring them back to power in 2012, the opposition did not hesitate to seize on and to blow the recent cocaine saga out of all proportionsKABBAH : COCAINE PRESIDENT ?In their desperation to tarnish the name of this government in a vainglorious belief that it will bring them back to power in 2012, the opposition did not hesitate to seize on and to blow the recent cocaine saga out of all proportions. Some of the most disingenious ones have even had the temerity to refer to the Ernest Koroma administration as a "Cocaine government. " This is not only unfair but it reinforces the belief in the nation that whatever evil is perpetuated under the Sierra Leone People's Party ( SLPP) is right but the same evil under another government is horrendous.
Big-match preview: Bafana Bafana v Super Eagles
The Times, South Africa
Form guide: Amodu’s men have cruised through qualifying: four victories, six goals scored and none conceded. Two senior regulars who campaigned for Nigeria’s Olympic side — Osaze Odemwingie and Obinna Nsofor — have been excused the trip, but there’s more than enough quality to compensate. Bafana played decently in a 2-2 draw with Australia this month, following the home-and- away Sierra Leone debacle. Gamebreakers? Despite being laughably overweight, Benni McCarthy choreographed both Bafana’s goals against Australia. Benni may be a whining lazy git at times, but he still has a knack for sizzling one-touch football — and if he gets another buzz going with Teko Modise and Siyabonga Nkosi, there’s hope for Bafana. But there’s trouble brewing at the back, where Aaron Mokoena will be absent through suspension. Many are glad about that, but Mokoena’s possible deputies in central defence are either young (Bevan Fransman, Bongani Khumalo) or rusty (Matthew Booth, Nasief Morris).
May God Bless Isatu NenehTimbo-Nwokedi
Patriotic Vanguard, Sierra Leone
Isatu Neneh Timbo-Nwokedi, who lives in California, is the embodiment of the American Dream. An African American, she was born in Sierra Leonean in a small village called Rokulan in theBombali District, Northern Province in Sierra Leone. She knew the rough life of a village girl growing up in an impoverished country like Sierra Leone. She overcame the all the odds life threw her way and relentlessly worked hard and finished her high school education in Freetown, the captal. Still thirsty for more education, she then migrated to the United States where she pursued further education in the field of nursing, and became a Registered Nurse (RN). Thereafter, she became more and more interested in the health care industry.
Death threats and persecution : We call for investigations into …
Cocorioko, Sierra Leone
We know that preposterous claims have been made before by journalists but we also know that serious harm, including death, has been inflicted before on journalists in Sierra Leone. We cannot afford to treat the publisher's claims with levity. While we have many points of disagreements with the AWARENESS TIMES Publisher, Dr. Sylvia Blyden and she and the Editor of this newspaper had been at loggerheads since 1994 until recently INFORMATION MINISTER KARGBO : INVESTIGATE we want to appeal to President Ernest Koroma and Information Minister, Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo to make sure that her claims in her newspaper yesterday are fully investigated.
Starlets off to a flier
Joy Online, Ghana
Starlets coach Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie brought on lanky striker Nsor on 58 minutes and it paid off a minute later when he soared above the defenders to head home beautifully after he was fed by Acheampong. The Libyan goalie Emmadir Ragab was the hero for his side over the last ten minutes as he denied the Starlets with spectacular saves in the 81st, 83rd and 88th minutes. The second leg will come off in Tripoli on Friday, September 12. The winner after both legs will face the winner of the clash between Gambia and Sierra Leone in the final round.
