President’s US trip : Awesome opportunity for Sierra Leone : Pavi …
Cocorioko, Sierra Leone
As Chairman of the Presidential Visit Committee in New Jersey, I see this as an awesome opportunity for our nation to play a role that moves our people from subsistence farmers to mass producers , from a largely unemployed and unskilled population to a nation of producers. Incidentally, the white driver was visibly distraught over an unpleasant and unnecessary experience and behavior. Officers like the one mentioned at the Congo Cross round about on Saturday, September 13, 2008 should be weeded out of the so-called Force for Good because they demean the reputation and good image of Sierra Leone and the police institution. Journalists have been blamed for discouraging serious investors from coming to Sierra Leone because of the perceived negative and sensational stories which they publish and post on the internet. On the other hand, police officers who extort money from tourists and potential investors are anti Sierra Leone and Sierra Leoneans interest. Finally, the Inspector General of Police should direct the internal investigation unit at the Sierra Leone police to look into this matter with dispatch. Weeding out the unprofessional police officers will enhance the chances of Sierra Leone to be a tourism Mecca and an investment haven. Time is of the essence, Mr.
