Speaking at WHO’s anniversary at the national museum in Mali the organisation’s deputy director Timothy Evans told his audience that the celebration was organised as a tribute to all those who have contributed to the success of the two institutions. Outlining some of the responsibilities of his organization, Evans said WHO was responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-base policy option, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends among others. Sierra Leone: An Anatomy of Country’s Latest Movie

I attempted to write a critique of it but soon forgot about doing so. What I wanted to write about Aminata has some relationship with what I am now writing about Sierra Leone’s newest movie, Crack. I use the term ‘newest’ not in the creative sense of the word, but rather in the chronological sense, speaking to the emergence of Sierra Leonean movies. Before Aminata and Crack, there have been a few other movies in the past. The majority of these local movies hardly retain the memory. Much of Sierra Leone’s creative arts are pervaded by didactics oftentimes undermining the entertainment value in them.

GA_googleFillSlot(“AllAfrica_Story_Inset”);Also, he has made distinct contributions as lead National Consultant in the preparation of the Governance and Security Chapter of Sierra Leone’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) in 2005-2007, the preparation of the UN Peace building Shadow Report for Sierra Leone in 2007, and his role as a Regular Member of the Review Team as well as the lead consultant for the British Department for International Development (DFID)-funded Governance and Civil Service Reform Programme (GCSRP II) in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone: For SLAJ Leadership, They Are All Hard Nuts to Crack
AllAfrica.com, Washington
As I disembarked from my late home travel from the back breaking press work last night, I was confronted by an owner of a Kiorsk just at my junction who curiously asked me when is the SLAJ elections. I was amazed that the election has actually hit the waves that much to the extent that the society of Sierra Leone is keenly watching what the out come of the elections would be. When has SLAJ got so much momentum? Why is it that SLAJ wants to take its proper place as the fourth arm of government?Who ever emerged as the victor after the presidential election will surely herald a new dawn in the history of the association. As Sky Gallegos, a democratic supporter and public speaker who was in Sierra Leone on the invitation of the US Embassy relayed to her audience, that personality of political leaders count so much in influencing interests of the general populace.

The objective of the project was to prevent illness and death among under fives and women between the ages of 15-49 years. GA_googleFillSlot(“AllAfrica_Story_Inset”);The event known as integrated health week or the ‘Mami en Pikin Well Bodi Week’ would take place from 22 to 29 November 2008.
