Sierra Leone: Kent Police Post in Deplorable State

Sergeant Emmanuel Sankoh told Concord Times Sunday at Kent that the police post lacks light facility and at the same time, the police post deserves water and toilet facility. He said the generator for the post doesn’t have fuel. “During the night the post would be dark throughout,” Sankoh said, adding that it was hard for them to perform their duties in the dark.

The rebel insurgents amputated hands and feet, handicapping war victims, many of whom can now only make a living by begging under the melting sun. After thorough examination of the pathetic plight of these victims, the Sierra Leone Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) came up with recommendations that if properly implemented, would help improve their conditions. The recommendations among other things called for reparation of war victims and the setting up of a War Victim’s Fund. The Government of Sierra Leone delegated responsibility to the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) to implement the programme.
