Sierra Leone: Amputees to Play for Peace

The planned gala would be organized by the Ghanaian National Paralympics Committee (NPC) in order to add their voice to the call for a peaceful atmosphere during the country’s next general elections slated for next month. GA_googleFillSlot(”AllAfrica_Story_Inset”);According to NPC, the gala is expected to kick-off before the December 7 polls and will pitch the Ghanaian Amputee football team against their counterparts from Liberia and Sierra Leone. NPC Technical Director, Armstrong Aidoo revealed to GNA Sports that both countries have confirmed their participation in the gala, which he described as the contribution of the physically challenged towards an incident-free election. He said the initiative was proposed by the two countries who have been victims of civil unrest over the past years.

Amina Kamara, amongst others, who had worked extremely hard for the title as the 1st ever Miss West Africa shed tears as her mother run upto hug her in her victory walk. Amina had always talked about how much the title would mean to her and give her the chance to inspire many young African girls across the world. Amina currently studies tourism stating “to represent poise and class as a black woman (West African), be an Ambassador of West Africa, help to enhance the quality of life for our West African people, and to present my personality to the public and to represent West Africa as a Sierra Leonean. ” Amina Kamara is a hard working student born in UK, London 31st January 2008.

According to the Country Director of UNFPA, Barnabas Yissa (who accompanied the Emir), Dr Yahaya as the Emir of Shonga is the leader of over 15 million people, has been a medical doctor since 1974 and has been working on the advancement of maternal mortality reforms.
