PDL Supports Qathafi’s Visit to Sierra Leone

The visit is timely because it relates to the current situation in the West African sub-region with the demise of President Conte of Guinea. We believe that the visit is also a result of PDL’s letter (dated 2nd ctober 2007) which was addressed to the Pan-African leader. In that letter which was signed by Brother Alimamy Bakarr Sankoh (Leader and Chairman of PDL) the PDL asked the Libyan Revolutionary Leader to extend his country’s humanitarian assistance to Sierra Leone. While such visit represents an important milestone in Libya’s relationship with Mano River Union (MRU) countries of Sierra Leone Guinea and Liberia we stand on the conviction that the visit opens a new chapter for the existing excellent relations between the Maghreb Union and Economic Community of West African States (ECWAS).
