What he said in reply was: “It is an advert”. When quizzed as to why he could afford to advertise such mortifying and injurious thing about somebody’s reputation he said “I have a Master’s degree in Communication and nobody teaches me how to practice journalism”. I decided that I should report the matter to the IMC for such a manifest disregard for ethics and laws of journalistic practice by somebody claiming to have such level of education in journalism and once Acting President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists. Secondly I called up Mr. Umaru Fofanah who is now President of the association and discussed the matter with him; he forthrightly agreed with me that nobody has the right to advertise some body’s reputation in that manner. I called up my lawyer and is going to write both men for court action. But in the interim I have decided to come out with this piece to clear my reputation in the eyes of the public on such unscrupulous and damaging publications.

Sierra Leone: Politics is Not About War

If one party is in power that does not warrant its supporters to create panic in the minds of the other parties and the opposition parties should not create fear in the minds of the people thereby creating panic in the country. Such a tense atmosphere can scare away investors because they would not like to invest their monies where political tension is mounting and causing people to live in a state of fear. Sierra Leone is too small to be in chaos a situation that would cause people to leave the country for other areas where they could live in peace. Sierra Leone is too small to practice political violence because it would escalate to other areas which would divide the country. Youths are being used by politicians to cause mayhem to their opponents giving the party in power an ugly face. I do not see politics as war. ne thing that Sierra Leoneans are not conscious about is that when there is a chaotic situation the international community always tends to call on their citizens to leave the country.
