50 Bathurst Street in central Freetown on Sunday 31st May 2009 took home with him a well grown male cow worth one million one hundred thousand leones. The raffle draw saw over 50 (fifty) prizes including a bed room freeze carpet sim packs mobile phones umbrellas cooking oil amongst others which were donated by senior staff of the Society and other partners such as Zain Sierra Leone Tigo Africell and Comium being taken away by other lucky winners. Addressing the gathering the National President of the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society Edward Tamba Gandy informed that the purpose of the draw was to show appreciation for the relentless effort of all volunteers of the society. He said the draw was also conducted to climax the World Red Cross Month of Celebration on the theme ‘ur world your move’ that coincided with the 150th Anniversary of the battle of Solferino in Italy that led to the creation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in the world.

Delivering his statement the Iranian Cultural Consul in Sierra Leone Mohamed Reza Sofla informed that Imam Khomeini was an Iranian national that belonged to all religions in the world. He said the late man devoted himself to the commandments of the Holy Quran and was used by Allah to establish a new structure of governance that contributed to the prosperity of Iran to date. Sofla pointed out that Imam Khomeini was able to revive the legacies of Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad. He described the seminar as important and sensitive for the participants and likened culture to the brining up of crops by a farmer.

According to reports seven sewing machines computers with internet facilities and hair dressing implements were donated by Youth Action International to the women in a bid to enable them up start their own businesses. Well Woman Clinic Launches Cancer Screening UnitLocal tabloids say the Well Women Clinic at Congo Cross has reportedly launched the Breast Cancer Screening Unit to treat women suffering from the disease in Sierra Leone. 9 million women are dying of Breast Cancer annually worldwide and 72% of these deaths are occurring in low and middle income countries.
