The recent dtention of and scrupulous investigation of Sierra Leone’s opposition leader John ponjo Benjamin in the United States of America on concerns over human rights violations committed during the infamous reign of the National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC) of which he Benjamin served as Chief Secretary of State (equivalent to that of a Prime Minister) should be perceived as a signal to all and sundry that the age of impunity is no longer tolerable. To some observers the actions of the U. Immigration fficers to interrogate John Benjamin were nothing rather than calculated efforts to besmirch the reputation of the opposition leader. ther conspiracy theorists see the humiliation of John Benjamin as being shopped on by his own brothers (or his political opponents) back home for political intemperance.
