Anoka High School graduates felt honoured that the Vice President of Sierra Leone Alhaji Sam-Sumana was at their school to offer them words of wisdom; words that they hope to put to practice in making a difference in the lives of others. With their parents friends and well-wishers in attendance it was clear they will forever cherish the moment. But that was not the only group he met with; he visited his Alma mater the Metropolitan State University and also met with the Sierra Leonean community. This was the same community that he once belonged to. That he could come back and meet with long time friends and acquaintances were a reminder that even though he no longer sees and talks with them regularly he has not forgotten about them.

Furthermore the smooth-talking NRA boss has succeeded in ensuring that for the first time Sierra Leone now has a seat on the six-member Audit Committee of the World Customs rganization (WC) representing about 30 countries from West and Central Africa. In addition Sesay has also succeeded in getting a seat for Sierra Leone in the Human Resource Working Group which is tasked with the responsibility of designing appropriate programmes to build capacity and motivate staff in Customs administration in the West and Central Africa regions. After his WC meeting in Brussels Sesay took time off his busy schedule to grant a brief interview in the office of the Information Attache at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Brussels Chernor juku Sesay and threw light on his trip to Europe and the performance of NRA towards the improvement of the national economy. Get a taste of what he said:Information Attaché (IA): You’ve just come to the end of your European trip how would you describe it?Allieu Sesay: It has been very very successful. For me it is the most successful trip of all the trips I’ve taken personally as well as to the country.

The process was in line with the global objective of having a single identity so that the company would have a unique identity that is recognized worldwide. He said other West Africa countries including Ghana have already begun the process but because of some reasons Sierra Leone was only embarking on the process now. Rothwell said there were lots of negative publications with regard the development but that security guards should have nothing to fear as the institution remains the same.

Though the ruling All People’s Congress APC are making frantic efforts to gain some political grounds by trying to win over certain political heavyweights in the area yet past Friday’s event clearly demonstrated that Kenema indeed belongs to the SLPP. The reason behind politicizing the match was yet unknown but some residents intimated Concord Times that it all started when Lions upon arrival in Kenema visited the regional office of the APC which according to them was a blatant show of political allegiance to the APC. Lahai Fatoma a strong SLPP member said they had not taken the matter seriously until when they saw some business women and APC party affiliates done in their party colours to patronize with the visiting team that they realized what was supposed to be a social event had degenerated into a party affair.

Thomas Samba who was speaking during a press briefing on the just concluded polio vaccination campaign for 2009 in Freetown said Sierra Leone has been Polio free since 2001 while other African countries are still grappling with an escalating polio epidemic. The former Inter Milan striker who is still holidaying in Freetown decided to break his silence after an online media reported earlier last month that he would be heading for Vietnam.
