Rwanda: Sierra Leone Seeks to Adopt Decentralisation Policy

“This policy has its foundations in the laws of the country as well as in the Rwandan culture. The policy should be put in context before being applied in any country” said Nyatanyi. Sierra Leone’s Parliamentary Speaker Justice Abel Strong who headed the group commended the government women empowerment programmes. “Rwanda is a role model to us because of the impressive women representation at all levels of governance and in major decision making organs. We are here to learn how this has been done so that we implement it in our own government” said Strong. His remarks were supported by Bintu who noted that African countries had a lot to learn from Rwanda. “Sierra Leone’s 127-member parliament has only 17 women as opposed to the over 56 percent women representation in the Rwandan parliament” Bintu remarked.

He commended the company for bringing new innovations in the private security sector of Sierra Leone adding that though he had served in the group 4 security company as manager he views Akal as a unique security outfit in the country. He said ever since in the history of Sierra Leone Akal is the only private security company that has organized a passing out ceremony for its guards. “With all sincerity I have seen Akal moving in a different direction” he said. Mayor Williams thanked the company’s country manager for creating job facilities for the youth and also retired RSLAF personnel. He admonished all guards to maintain standards.

Bash Kamara said the President feels the only way to achieve that is the provision of a permanent and reliable electricity supply throughout the country. He said President Koroma has vowed not to rest until he gives the people of Sierra Leone electricity as promised. Bash-Kamara referred to the samples of solar light for the Mile 91 community as just the beginning and if handle well more will follow. He said the solar lights will not only go to the Mile 91 community but the country at large will soon start to benefit from them.

Sierra Leone: Sieving Justice As an Issue of Probity

Under that clause establishing but also detailing the scope and nature of the judiciary Section 120 talks about the power vested in it with the Chief Justice as the head. The judiciary is supposed to be the bastion of equal right and justice peace and stability. It is the officially permitted instrument for the enforcement of law and order and through which lawbreakers are punished.
